The Human Resources Department assists City departments in developing and maintaining a qualified, effective and diverse workforce and provides employment –related services to the City’s management, employees and to the job applicants.

Human Resources provides support to managers and employees of the City in the following areas:

  • Employee recruitment, assessment, selection and orientation.
  • Employee Benefit coordination and communication.
  • Classification and Compensation, including development and maintenance of job descriptions and salary schedules.
  • Employee relations, including labor negotiations with three organized bargaining units and a non-represented group which includes management/confidential group. 
  • Maintenance of employee personnel, confidential background reports and medical records.
  • Processing and maintenance of Worker's Compensation records.
  • Staffing and succession planning
  • Training and development
