Recreation

  • Amenities abound with over 5.4 miles of new walking, running and hiking trails, 3.25 miles of which are paved for use year-round.  A covered pavilion with two picnic tables and restrooms make for a wonderful gathering place. There is no potable water so BYOW.

  • Many people enjoy walking their dogs on leash, bringing children and strollers, or recreational hiking.  The wetlands are also a wonderful place to ride bikes.  If bike riding, be sure to share the trails safely by a passing on the left and announcing “passing on the left” so as not to surprise anyone.

  • Cottonwood and pacific willows were planted in April, 2018. Additional tree species will be added to provide beauty and food sources for birds and pollinators.  As these trees grow, every season will bring changing views and shady places to sit.

  • Check out the bulletin boards for information regarding current and past activities and upcoming events.

  • The 13 kiosks spaced all around the wetlands are a beautiful way to walk and learn about the land use, the wildlife, the geography and so much more.

  • If you see a volunteer with the four passenger cart, be sure to ask for a tour.  If there is time they will be happy to show you around.

Goslings

The wetlands are still very young and already the birds are finding us. Come out with your binoculars and see what birds are visiting. Also, check out the bird gallery on this site to see all the possibilities that multiple visits can produce. At the pavilion, look for a wildlife log to learn what birds and other wildlife are being seen on a daily basis.  By the way, don’t forget your cameras!
