  Transportation Department

The City of Prineville's Transportation Department oversees a total of 113 lane miles of paved streets and approximately 7 lane miles of gravel streets and alleyways. The Transportation Division is also responsible for the City's storm water system. This system consists of 808 existing catch basins and thousands of feet of various types and sizes of pipe. With only two employees, the Transportation Department relies heavily on other Public Works employees to help maintain the City's street and storm water networks. Common Transportation Department duties and responsibilities are street sweeping, stop sign and street sign maintenance, asphalt paving and patching, street striping and crosswalk maintenance, gravel street and shoulder maintenance, weed control, sanding and snow removal, catch basin cleaning, bridge maintenance and street light maintenance. The Department is led by Scott Smith and overseen by Public Works Superintendent Jerry Brummer.
