Question: Do I have to pay the deposit before I can open an account?
Answer: Yes.

Question: Can I make monthly payments on the deposits?
Answer: No.

Question: Do you take debit/credit cards?
Answer: We now accept Visa and Mastercard debit/credit cards.

Question: I made a payment recently and it doesn't reflect on my latest bill, why?
Answer: If you made a payment close to the due date printed on the bill, it may not have been included in the current billing.

Question: My house is currently vacant (not currently rented, away on vacation, etc.). Why do I have to pay a monthly fee?
Answer: The City of Prineville's Ordinance does not have a "vacancy" provision.

Question: I just opened an account at one address six months ago and paid a deposit. Why do I have to pay another deposit at the new house?
Answer: Deposits stay with the property address. Deposits can not be transferred from one account to another. The deposit is credited toward the final bill. Any credit remaining will be mailed approximately two weeks after the final billing cycle.

Question: Does the City of Prineville require as business license?
Answer: Not for permanent businesses. However, temporary or transient businesses should check with City personnel to inquire if they need a license.

Question: My water was turned off for non-payment and I wanted to pay the public works crew member the amount I owed the City. Why didn't he/she accept the money?
Answer: Our public works crew is not allowed to accept payments of any kind from customers. All payments must be presented to the City Hall.

Question: Why did I get a late penalty on my bill? Don't you have a grace period?
Answer: There is no grace period. All current bills are due and payable on the due date printed on the payment stub, generally around the 15th of the month.

Question: What is the deposit for water and sewer?
Answer: The deposit is currently $40.00 for water and $100.00 for sewer.

Question: What are the current monthly base rates for water and sewer?
Answer: Effective July 1, 2012, the residential base water rate is $15.77; the residential base sewer rate is $46.84. Any consumption of water is charged in units of water. Each unit equals 750 gallons of water and costs $1.64.
